Recently Bluegrass Web Services, LLC celebrated its one-year anniversary. Bluegrass Web Services (www.bluegrasswebservices.com) is a full-service web service provider for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and home businesses. Offering everything from low cost web hosting accounts, to designing/building websites, Bluegrass Web Services even offers content creation, search engine optimization, social media, online marketing and mobile marketing .
Bluegrass Web Services, LLC was founded in October, 2010 by Gary L. Glasscock and has grown into a full-service virtual web service company boasting a list of clients including numerous successful small businesses locally and across the nation. Glasscock has worked hard to build strong business relationships with other service providers from around the US ranging from copywriters and graphic designers to social media specialists. “I want to support American service providers in an effort to support the U.S. economy.”
Glasscock began his computer and technology education in 1982 when he enrolled in RETS, an electronics trade school in Louisville, KY. He graduated in 1985 and immediately went to work for Xerox Corporation, working out of Elizabethtown, KY. After a year with Xerox he returned to Campbellsville to help his father, Clark “Clarkie” Glasscock, run a second business, Glasscock Service Center, Inc. During his time there, he helped his father to implement the first computer-generated auto repair estimates in Campbellsville. Even though he left Glasscock Service Center in 1989, he continued to serve as technical advisor and consultant. Glasscock also began building custom computers for friends and family and provided technical assistance to several in the Campbellsville area.
In 1986 Glasscock “went online” and has been a fixture in the online world ever since. When the Internet first became available through CompuServe & AOL (the two major online players at that time) Gary ventured onto the web and was intrigued by what he saw there. “Back then websites weren’t like they are today. The HTML specifications that were in effect at the time didn’t allow for really nice design so a lot of websites just didn’t look very good, at least not by today’s standards.”
As there was a severe shortage of instructional materials on the subject Glasscock began viewing the source code of websites available at the time so he could learn HTML and began creating websites. One of the first websites he built was www.glasscock.us which has undergone many changes over the years.
As Glasscock continued to learn about all things web related he naturally ventured into online marketing and attended Campbellsville University, where he graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Communications with a minor in Computer Information Systems. The combination of his education in Communications and his tech knowledge has provided Glasscock with a unique quality his clients love. “Clients love that I can explain technical stuff on their level because they can actually understand what I’m talking about.”
In February, 2010 he stepped in to help a friend and became their interim webmaster. The friend then began recommending Glasscock to her friends and colleagues. The next thing Gary knew he had a business on his hands and realized there was a definite market for his services and founded Bluegrass Web Services, LLC.
